Human Resources Assistant
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Work Days: 240, Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule
Job Goal: The primary role of the Human Resources Assistant is to provide administrative support to the Human Resources area, maintain personnel records and contribute to the operational success of the Human Resources Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Two years of college preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years Human Resources experience in a public school setting preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Must have excellent communication and telephone etiquette. The ability to work successfully with other staff members, employees and the public.
- Must be able to perform responsibilities with a sense of urgency to meet the needs of others; respond to solve problems and willing to accept a variety of tasks to perform.
- Must be detailed oriented, well organized and have the ability to manage time and multiple projects to achieve required results.
- Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Superintendent of Schools find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prompt and regular attendance.
- Receives and screens telephone calls, letters and/or visitors; Responds to requests and correspondence on own initiative and as directed by supervisor.
- Assists department in carrying out various human resource programs and procedures for all LCSS employees.
- Creates, maintains, and manipulates date (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, graphics, etc.,) to track personnel information and changes.
- Verifies I-9 documentation, new hire reporting and other federal/state reports as needed.
- Accurately completes employment verifications, past work experience and any other requested employment forms.
- Obtain, compile, organize, prepare, and secure personnel records for storage and retrieval.
- Assists with new hire and benefit orientations.
- Coordinates arrangements for meetings, conferences and travel within the department.
- Provides coverage to Central Office Receptionist as needed and requested.
- Coordinates background process.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources and/or Superintendent of Schools.
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director of Human Resources.
