Job Goal: To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators and other team members providing educational benefit for students.


Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED certificate.
2. Have at least two years of college (60 semester hours or 100 quarter hours or Earned an associate degree) OR 
3. Passed the State approved GACE paraprofessional exam.
4. Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed.


Responsibilities:
• Prompt and regular attendance.
• Works with individual pupils and/or small groups to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified teacher.
• Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on individual students, their needs and abilities.
• Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
• Assists families in developing a better understanding of the Title I school and its programs designed to increase student achievement.
• Assists with coordination and implementation of Title I Parental Involvement workshops.
• Assist in computer instruction in core content areas.
• Provide instructional support in the media center for identified students.
• Performs other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position as related to Title I and as assigned by the supervisor and Superintendent of Schools.


Physical Requirements:
Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:
Light Work: Exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.


Terms of Employment:
Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.


Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on classified evaluation.
